KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Cabinet has reaffirmed its commitment to clean and transparent governance by making a Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) in a ceremony at Menara Kinabalu here on Wednesday (Feb 25).

The pledge recitation and signing ceremony led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was witnessed by Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah.

Fuad said the implementation of the IBR programme with the state Cabinet represents a positive commitment by the Sabah government in efforts to strengthen integrity and good governance.

He said the initiative will be expanded to ministries and agencies to ensure anti-corruption efforts are implemented comprehensively.

"The implementation of this programme also demonstrates the effectiveness and seriousness of the planned initiatives so that practices of corruption, abuse of power and financial leakages can be prevented more effectively," he said.

Fuad also expressed hope that more ministries, departments and government agencies, including government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector, will come forward to participate in the IBR programme.
