Governance reset results in three more suspensions at HRD Corp

PETALING JAYA: Another three members from the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) have been suspended by the corporation as part of its move to strengthen its institutional integrity.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz said the suspensions were a procedural measure to maintain the independence of an ongoing internal review within HRD Corp.

“The suspensions do not represent any conclusion of wrongdoing and are meant to highlight the organisation’s commitment to raising governance standards.

“This is also part of an intensified governance reset aimed at strengthening our institutional discipline and safeguarding industry confidence,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said that HRD Corp’s ongoing review had identified areas requiring tighter internal controls, clearer reporting structures and enhanced compliance oversight.

To this end, Mohamed Shamir said corrective enhancements were being implemented to modernise HRD Corp’s governance frameworks, reinforce accountability mechanisms and streamline administrative processes to better serve employers and training providers.

“Strong governance is fundamental to business confidence, as employers expect clarity, predictability and disciplined stewardship.

“This reset is about strengthening our systems to ensure that we can consistently deliver on those expectations while also aligning with national growth priorities,” he said.

On Feb 6, HRD Corp announced the suspension of three members of its top management based on findings in reports from the Public Accounts Committee, the Auditor-General and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
