Over RM30mil given to ease living costs for 550,000 Johor households

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has allocated more than RM30mil to implement the Bakul Kasih Johor programme to benefit over 550,000 needy families across the state.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the initiative was introduced to ease the burden of rising living costs amid uncertain global economic conditions.

He added that the food basket assistance includes essential items such as rice, wheat flour, sardines, sugar and other basic kitchen necessities to help reduce recipients’ daily household expenses.

“Understanding the cost-of-living pressures faced by Bangsa Johor due to the uncertain global economic situation, the state government has allocated more than RM30mil for the implementation of the Bakul Kasih Johor assistance programme.

“The programme will benefit more than 550,000 families in need throughout Johor,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page here on Sunday (May 31).

Onn Hafiz described the initiative as one of the state’s efforts to provide relief to vulnerable groups and ensure that assistance reaches those who genuinely need support.

He said the food aid programme was aimed at helping families cope with the increasing cost of essential goods and daily necessities.
