JOHOR BARU: Raids by the Immigration Department at car wash centres, eateries and housing units have led to the detention of 30 illegal foreigners.
Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the operations were conducted at 11 premises in Skudai at 8pm on Friday (Feb 13).
“We targeted six business premises, including car wash centres and food outlets, as well as five housing units where we believe foreigners were employed and sheltered,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 14).
Those detained include 11 Thai men, five Pakistani men, four Indonesian men, two Indian men, two Bangladeshi men, three Indonesian women, two Thai women and one Indonesian boy aged between 15 and 45.
They will be investigated for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
Mohd Rusdi said all detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action.
“Five summonses were also issued to witnesses to assist in the investigation,” he added.
