Landslide forces closure of road in Tanah Rata

IPOH: A section of Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands has been temporarily closed following a landslide.

Cameron Highlands OCPD Supt Azri Ramli said the incident occurred at about 4.50pm on Friday (Sept 11) at Section 1.4 of the road.

He said the closure was necessary to ensure public safety and facilitate clean-up works by the Public Works Department.

"The public is advised to avoid the affected route temporarily.

"Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and progress of the clean-up until the road is safe to reopen," he said in a statement on Friday.

In another development, Supt Azri said three houses and seven vehicles were affected by flash floods at the Golden Hill housing area in Brinchang.

The incident was reported at about 5pm on Friday.

"The situation was under control upon arrival, with floodwaters beginning to recede.

"The Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force were also informed to assist with monitoring and necessary action.

"No casualties or injuries were reported," he said.
