Pakistani man held over mosque donation theft in Cheras


PETALING JAYA: A Pakistani man in his late 20s has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a mosque and stealing donations in Taman Ikhlas, Cheras.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received a report on Feb 8 about a break-in and theft of a mosque’s donations in the area.

He said the suspect was arrested on Feb 10 near the mosque.

“We received a report on Feb 8 regarding a break-in and theft involving the mosque’s donations. Acting on information and intelligence gathered, a Pakistani male suspect in his late 20s was arrested on Feb 10 in the surrounding area,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 12).

ACP Mohd Rosdi said the suspect was remanded for three days from Feb 11 to Feb 13 to assist with the investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft,” he added.
