PETALING JAYA: A former electrical supplies warehouse employee has been arrested within 12 hours of police receiving a report about a break-in at the premises.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received a report at 11:58am on Aug 25, stating that the warehouse had been broken into by an unknown individual the previous night.
He said the break-in occurred at 9.48pm on Aug 24, with CCTV footage showing the suspect forcing his way through a fence before entering the warehouse via the toilet grille.
"Acting on information and intelligence, a team from the Cheras district police headquarters’ D4 Criminal Investigation Division, together with a Bukit Jalil police station task force, raided an apartment at Persiaran Prima Utama in Puchong at 11.24pm on Aug 25.
"We arrested the main suspect, a local man in his mid-30s, and seized several items, including a blue cash box, a mobile phone, as well as a black shirt and cap believed to have been worn during the incident," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 1).
ACP Rosdi said the suspect had no criminal record and the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
He added that the suspect was remanded for investigations until Monday (Aug 31) and is expected to be charged in court today.
