Two women, toddler killed in car-4WD collision in Perak

IPOH: Two women in a car were killed following an accident with a four-wheel drive vehicle on Jalan Tanjung Tualang near Kampung Batu 1 in Batu Gajah.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said victims G. Sarasbathy, 65, and S.R. Sarala Devi, 34, were confirmed to have died on the spot by medical personnel during the incident on Monday (Feb 9) at about 9.45pm.

"Both victims were found trapped in the front seats of the car.

"Their bodies have been handed over to the police for the next course of action," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 10).

When contacted, Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Md Noor Aehawan Mohammad said a three-year-old girl from the same car had also died.

The girl died at the Batu Gajah Hospital, he said.

ACP Md Noor Aehawan said initial investigations found that the 27-year-old 4WD driver was on his way from Kampar to Bemban before the incident.

"At the location, the man is believed to have overtaken a car and crashed head-on with the victims' car from the opposite direction.

"The man has been arrested. The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act," he said, adding that the man was a factory worker.

"He was also tested positive for drugs," he added.
