Hot weather: Cloud seeding to be carried out in Johor, Kedah, Perak, says DPM

KUALA NERUS: Cloud seeding operations will be conducted in Johor, Kedah and Perak from Wednesday (Feb 11) until Sunday (Feb 15), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said the operations are being implemented following declining water levels at several dams due to prolonged hot weather.

"Although dam levels remain at the alert stage, early action is needed to prevent them from reaching critical levels,” he told reporters after the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s 2026 retreat here on Tuesday (Feb 10).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, said cloud seeding will take place at Upper Layang, Pulai 1 and Machap dams in Johor on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, while Pedu, Muda and Ahning dams in Kedah, as well as Bukit Merah Dam in Perak, will be involved on Friday and Saturday. — Bernama
