37-year-old motorcyclist dies in North-South Expressway crash near Kulai


KULAI: A motorcyclist has died after falling on the road and being run over by a trailer on the North-South Expressway.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred at KM34.2 North-South Expressway (Northbound) at 9.05pm on Monday (Feb 9).

“A 37-year-old motorcyclist who was riding from Johor Baru to Batu Pahat fell onto the road and was run over by a trailer that could not avoid him.

“The motorcycle then caught fire, and the blaze was extinguished by the Kulai fire and rescue department,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 10).

He said the local male victim was confirmed dead at the scene by a medical officer from severe injuries.

“The victim’s body has been sent to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim here for a post-mortem.

“Meanwhile, the 49-year-old trailer driver did not sustain any injuries,” he added.

ACP Tan added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
