A PASSENGER sparked alarm after he was seen cooking food on board the Electric Train Service (ETS) heading from Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur, reported China Press.

The man, who was speaking with a mainland Chinese accent, was seen allegedly using an electrical outlet and a three-pin adaptor to cook food at seat 6C in Coach F in January.

Another passenger in the same coach immediately informed the conductor and reported the matter to staff at Kluang station.

He also shared his story and uploaded a photo of the alleged offender on social media, adding that unauthorised use of electrical appliances to cook on trains could endanger other passengers by causing a short circuit.

The incident garnered both exasperation and ridicule.

“This is unbelievable. Cooking on a train? I am speechless,” one netizen wrote on social media.

Others joked that entrepreneurial passengers could start cooking and selling food onboard train journeys in Malaysia.

> Mayday superfan Rasyidah Abu Johan got the chance of a lifetime when she was picked for a song request during the band’s concert in Kuala Lumpur last week, reported China Press.

The TV2 Mandarin news anchor, who was attending her ninth Mayday concert, was picked by frontman Ashin among thousands of concertgoers at Stadium Bukit Jalil on Jan 31.

An excited Rasyidah described the experience of being able to interact with her music idol as being surreal, and she asked herself whether she was dreaming.

“The song you wrote, Stubborn, is my goal in life.

“Whenever I am struggling at work or when I am feeling down, I think of the first verse, which says, ‘When I am different from the rest of the world, let me be different’,” she told Ashin.

The 38-year-old was so overcome with emotion that Ashin confessed that he was not sure if she was laughing or crying.

“I am crying and laughing at the same time!” Rasyidah replied.

She added that the first time she travelled abroad in her life was to attend a Mayday concert.

Following the lifting of pandemic restrictions, she made her first overseas trip to see Mayday.

Moved by her words, Ashin dedicated a special performance of the song, Willful, to her.

It was reported that Mayday debuted in 1999 and continues to be one of the best-selling rock bands in the Chinese-speaking world.

They recently held their #5522 Live Tour show in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 31.
