PM Anwar lauds Johor for efforts to preserve heritage after royal museum visit

JOHOR BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited the Abu Bakar Royal Museum here to admire the Johor royal family’s vast collection of artefacts and treasures.

Anwar, who was accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said the museum displayed collections that reflected the state sultanate’s historical heritage and culture.

“The museum is also surrounded by well-preserved and attractive landscape.

“I salute the Johor government for their continuous effort to upgrade heritage assets and strengthen the state’s tourism attractions, which aligned with their Visit Johor campaign,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Feb 2).

Anwar said the effort supports the Visit Malaysia agenda in spurring the local economy while preserving the national identity and history.

On Sunday, Anwar arrived in Johor Baru via Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd’s Electric Train Service from Kuala Lumpur.

With his children and grandchildren in tow, he headed straight to the Johor Zoo, where he surprised visitors and spent about an hour there with his family.
