PM Anwar back at work after chairing 47th Asean Summit


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has resumed duties in Putrajaya after a hectic schedule chairing the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits, which concluded on Tuesday (Oct 28).

The Prime Minister's Facebook post, which showed him signing a document with the hashtag #MADANIbekerja, has so far received over 16,000 likes and more than 1,300 comments.

In the comments section, Facebook users thanked the Prime Minister for his hard work and dedication, while some also advised him to take care of his health and diet.

"Even just looking at this makes me feel tired. May the goodness and blessings of all the worlds be bestowed upon DSAI. Thank you for your hard work for Malaysia,” said Facebook user MK Syuhaira Ramly.

Several users from Cambodia, including Sok Den, Mey Votey Morakot, Phala Sambath, Pov Moeun and En Meng, also expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s contribution to the success of the KL Peace Accord between Thailand and Cambodia.

"The Cambodian people would like to express our gratitude to Your Excellency for bringing peace to Cambodia. Please accept the respect and appreciation of the Cambodian people, Your Excellency Anwar Ibrahim,” said Sok Den.

Meanwhile, Firdaus Basri thanked Anwar for his exemplary leadership, while Abdul Azim prayed for the Prime Minister to be blessed with good health and strength to continue serving the nation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday, Anwar said Malaysia had fulfilled its responsibilities as Asean Chair for 2025 with unity, patience and strong leadership.

The summits marked Malaysia’s fifth time chairing the regional bloc since its inception in 1967, following previous tenures in 2015, 2005, 1997 and 1977.

On Tuesday, Malaysia officially handed over the Asean Chairmanship to the Philippines, marking the symbolic transition of leadership as Malaysia enters the final phase of its 2025 chairmanship.- Bernama
