Year One registration for 2027 opens Feb 15, says Education DG

PETALING JAYA: Registration for Year One students for the 2027 academic calendar will be conducted online from Feb 15 to March 31, 2026.

In a statement Wednesday (Jan 28), Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said registrations must be completed via the Education Ministry Integrated System (MOEIS) at https://idme.moe.gov.my.

Registration is open to children of Malaysian citizens in the six-year-old (5+) cohort, comprising those born between Jan 2 and Dec 31, 2021, as well as the seven-year-old (6+) cohort, comprising children born between Jan 2, 2020 and Jan 1, 2021.

“This move is in line with the government’s decision to allow children aged six (5+) to enrol in Year One starting in 2027 on a voluntary basis, without the need to sit for any screening test

“The initiative to encourage the enrolment of six-year-old (5+) children into Year One reflects a progressive step under the Madani government, aimed at safeguarding children’s development and well-being while ensuring they do not fall behind in education,” he said.

Parents and guardians are advised to register an account with the Identity Management System (idMe), update their personal information, and submit applications through MOEIS within the stipulated period to ensure a smooth registration process.

Further information can be obtained through the official Education Ministry portal, state education departments, or district education offices.
