Stop meddling in other parties’ affairs, PAS tells Perlis MB

PETALING JAYA: Perlis Mentri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah has been told to back off following his proposal to reinstate three former state PAS assemblymen as independents.

PAS information chief Fadhli Shaari said Abu Bakar should focus on governing the state properly and not interfere with other parties' affairs.

"The new Mentri Besar should just look after the state properly. There's no need to interfere in other parties' affairs.

"The three former PAS assemblymen had their memberships revoked for violating discipline which is clearly stated in the party's constitution, and PAS cannot tolerate disciplinary issues like this.

"He needs to ensure that he is not the shortest-serving mentri besar in history," he said on his Facebook page on Sunday (Jan 25).

Abu Bakar's suggestion was made on Saturday (Jan 24), noting that the three still have a mandate to serve their constituents.

The three - Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong) and Saad Seman (Chuping) had been sacked by PAS in December last year following the submission of statutory declarations that they, along with five Bersatu assemblymen, had lost confidence in then mentri besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

The three state seats are currently vacant and no by-elections would be held as the state government maintains a stable majority, with the next general election less than two years away.

Fadhli, who is Pasir Mas MP, also warned that PAS could also declare "war" like Abu Bakar if he continues to play politics.

"The six PAS assemblymen can declare 'war' like the Mentri Besar himself previously did in November 2023 because he was not appointed as a state executive council member.

"PAS assemblymen are not like Mentri Besar and our party is not like his party. The people are more important," he added.
