Teacher charged with sexually abusing pupils at school

SEREMBAN: A primary school teacher pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to four charges of physically sexually assaulting his 12-year-old pupils.

Mohamad Kamal Nik Ismail, 41, entered his plea after the charges were read out before judge Surita Budin.

The offences allegedly took place on school premises in Senawang between June 2024 and September 2025.

Mohamad Kamal was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

The accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for minimum bail, informing the court that he had since been transferred to a teacher resource centre.

Surita fixed bail at RM9,000 for each charge and allowed additional conditions by the prosecution, including barring the accused from approaching the alleged victims and witnesses.

The court fixed Feb 23 for the next mention of the case.
