Zahid urges Umno to close ranks at annual general assembly

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members should use the party’s annual general assembly as an opportunity to close ranks amid a challenging political landscape, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid said the assembly would also chart the party’s future course in an organised and strategic manner.

“Umno’s strength lies in togetherness and a forward vision,” he said in a post uploaded to his Facebook account on Wednesday (Jan 14).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, expressed confidence that all debates and decisions of the assembly will benefit the party, the country, and the rakyat.

The Umno Annual General Assembly was held from Jan 14 to 17 at the World Trade Centre here.

It was initially scheduled for late last year but was postponed due to the 17th Sabah state elections.
