GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested two men and seized drugs worth more than RM300,000 in an operation on Monday (Jan 12).

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the suspects, aged 47 and 53, were arrested between 10pm on Monday and 3.53am on Tuesday (Jan 13) in an operation by the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

"During the raid, we seized 130 plastic packets of various colours.

"Each packet, weighing 2.078g, contained powder believed to be MDMA-type drugs. The total value of the seizure is RM347,000," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 14).

He said the quantity of drugs seized could be consumed by 6,928 users.

"Initial screening found both suspects positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine," he added.

ACP Rozak said three vehicles, a ring and cash totalling RM277,800 were also confiscated in the raids.
