KL cops probing neglect claims after infant sustains fractured femur

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are investigating an alleged case of neglect by a babysitter that resulted in injuries to a three-month-old infant.

City police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the report was lodged at 2.38pm on Jan 9 after the baby was found to have swelling on his left thigh.

"The infant had earlier been sent to a babysitter’s house in Taman Koperasi Polis.

"When he was picked up, the baby was crying continuously and subsequently taken to the hospital by his parents," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 14).

A police report was lodged by a 27-year-old doctor after the infant was referred to Hospital Ampang, where examinations revealed a fracture on the left thigh bone, Comm Fadil said.

"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect.

"Investigations are ongoing," he added.
