Biker dies in multi-vehicle crash near Ayer Hitam, Johor


KULAI: A motorcyclist was killed after losing control while attempting to overtake a car, causing him to crash into another vehicle before being run over by a four-wheel drive.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred at KM43 of Jalan Johor Baru–Ayer Hitam, heading towards Ayer Hitam, at about 9.30pm on Sunday (Jan 11).

“A 31-year-old man was riding a motorcycle on the right lane from the direction of Kelapa Sawit had lost control after grazing a car while attempting to overtake it.

“The motorcycle then crashed into the rear of another car before the victim fell into the opposite lane and was hit by a four-wheel drive that did not manage to avoid him,” he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 12).

He added that the victim, who suffered severe head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The victim’s body was taken to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim for a post-mortem.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

ACP Tan added that members of the public with information about the accident may contact investigating officer Inspector Mohd Ruslan Mohamed at 013-3063710 or head to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Kulai District Police Headquarters.
