KOTA KINABALU: Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) announced a temporary disruption in cement supply due to repair and maintenance work at its plant in Teluk Sepanggar.
CIS general manager Sumardi Mohd Yusuf said delayed arrivals of ships carrying raw clinker and bulk cement also contributed to the market shortage.
He added that the delay was also due to bad weather conditions at the supplier’s port.
“Repair and maintenance works at the plant were completed on Sept 4. CIS is now working to ramp up production and restore cement supply to the market.
“We expect supply to fully recover by mid-September,” he said in a statement Sunday (Sept 6).
Sumardi added that CIS is also increasing procurement of clinker and bulk cement to meet demand.
“We hope for cooperation and understanding from all parties during this recovery period,” he added.
