PUTRAJAYA: Wanita DAP has called on the government to act decisively and deliver on its promised institutional reforms without further delay during the upcoming Dewan Rakyat meeting in October.
Speaking at the wing's national congress on Sunday, Wanita DAP chief Teo Nie Ching urged the Madani administration to use the final parliamentary meeting of the year to table key legislative changes.
"The government must be brave to bring the promised reforms to the upcoming Dewan Rakyat meeting," Teo said during her policy speech. "This is a meeting where those of us who are part of the Madani government hope to see these much-needed reforms brought forward."
Among the critical legislative measures highlighted by Teo were bills to limit the prime minister's tenure to two terms and to separate the roles of the Attorney-General and the Public Prosecutor.
Teo, who also serves as Deputy Communications Minister, further advocated for equal constitutional constituency development funds for all elected representatives, regardless of political affiliation.
"Let us do the right thing to ensure we can build a better Malaysia for the upcoming generation," she said.
The upcoming Dewan Rakyat session is scheduled to begin on October 4.
