446 postal ballots issued for Kinabatangan, Lamag by-elections


KINABATANGAN: A total of 446 postal ballot papers have been issued for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections, according to the Election Commission (EC).

In a statement on Monday (Jan 12), EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus announced that 446 postal ballot papers have been distributed to individuals eligible to vote by mail in the P.187 Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election and the N.58 Lamag state by-election, scheduled for Jan 12, 2026.

Khairul explained that postal ballot issuance was conducted by election officers appointed by the returning officer, in the presence of postal voting agents representing the contesting candidates.

For the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat, 203 Category 1A postal ballots were issued to election workers, police personnel and media practitioners. Additionally, 48 Category 1C ballots were distributed to agencies and organisations.

For the Lamag state seat, 155 Category 1A postal ballots and 40 Category 1C ballots were issued.

“Postal voters are reminded to mark their ballot papers, accurately complete the Declaration of Identity form (Form 2), and return them to the relevant returning officer before 5pm on polling day, Jan 24, 2026,” he stated.

He also urged voters to keep their votes confidential and to refrain from photographing their postal ballot papers or sharing them on social media.
