Smooth nomination process for Kinabatangan, Lamag by-elections, say cops


KOTA KINABALU: The just-concluded Kinabatangan and Lamag by-election nominations proceeded without any incidents, said district police chief Supt Ravi Duraisamy.

The Kinabatangan OCPD said everyone involved had given their best cooperation and abided by all instructions by the police.

He said there was a little bit of congestion earlier in the morning because many drivers used the road leading to the nomination centre to send people and items, among other matters.

“But everything was under control,” he said to reporters at Dewan Sri Lamag on Saturday (Jan 10) after nominations closed.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and Lamag state seat was left vacant after its incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin passed away on Dec 5.

Early polls have been set for Jan 20, while voting day is on Jan 24.
