Floods: Evacuee numbers in Sabah unchanged since 8am


KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah remains unchanged on Thursday (Jan 8) afternoon, with over 1,200 people from 433 families still in temporary relief centres.

As of 4pm, there are 661 evacuees (223 families) in Beaufort and 563 (210 families) in Tenom, the same figures reported at 8am by the state disaster management committee.

A total of 17 relief centres remain open as the weather seems to be improving.

Floods began around Kota Kinabalu late Saturday (Jan 3) before spreading to other areas like Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Tenom and Beaufort.

No casualties have been reported.
