45 reports lodged over alleged document forgery in heritage player issue, says Bukit Aman

PETALING JAYA: More than 40 police reports have been lodged over allegations of document forgery involving seven mixed-heritage football players, says Bukit Aman.

"As of now, a total of 45 reports have been received and one investigation paper has been opened under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

“A total of eight statements have been recorded," said Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Rusdi Md Isa when contacted on Wednesday (Jan 7).

On Nov 3 last year, the FIFA Appeal Committee upheld the penalty imposed by the Disciplinary Committee of the world governing body against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and seven heritage players for offences related to the falsification of documents under Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

Consequently, FAM was ordered to pay a fine of CHF350,000 (approximately RM1.8mil), while each player was fined CHF2,000 (about RM11,000). The seven players were also suspended for 12 months from football-related activities
