Bachok man gets five years' jail, caning for possessing kerambit


KOTA BARU: A man was sentenced to five years' jail with one lash of the whip by the Sessions Court here Monday (Jan 5) after pleading guilty to possessing a dangerous weapon without permission.

Judge Nik Habri Mohamad pronounced the sentence on Mohd Nazrulhisam Mohd Nordin, 44, for owning a brown-coloured kerambit measuring 12cm by the side of Jalan Kampung Telong, Bachok at 5.20pm on Dec 29, 2025.

He was charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive Substances, Explosives and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Syafiqah Mohamad requested a sentence commensurate to the crime as a lesson to the accused, while Mohd Nazrulhisam, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a ligher sentence as he had to care for three school-going children and was still living with his parents. - Bernama
