Motorcyclist loses right hand in multi-vehicle crash

PETALING JAYA: A man had his right hand amputated at the wrist following a three-vehicle collision on Jalan Sungai Rambai, Jenjarom, Kuala Langat, on Tuesday (Dec 30).

The accident at 12.45pm involved a motorcycle, a car, and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), according to Kuala Langat's OCPD, Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi.

Investigations revealed that the victim, in his 20s, was riding the motorcycle from Jalan Akasia, Jenjarom, towards Jalan Sungai Rambai.

“Upon reaching the junction, the victim emerged from the side road and was struck by a car driven by a man in his 20s. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the roadside,” said Supt Mohd Akmarizal on Wednesday (Dec 31).

“The car then hit a metal barrier, spun, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the front of an MPV driven by a 60-year-old trader,” he added.

The motorcycle rider, who also sustained injuries to his right leg, was rushed to Banting Hospital for treatment.

“He has undergone surgery on his right hand and is now in stable condition. The drivers of the other two vehicles were unharmed,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also urged the public not to speculate on the incident, as it could interfere with the police investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the nearest police station or case investigating officer, Inspector Mazrol Mohd Din at 011-18539115 or 03-31872222.
