Investigation papers on Banting assault incident referred to AGC

SERDANG: The investigation papers on a case involving a detainee who was allegedly assaulted by a police officer in Kampung Sungai Ingat, Banting, have been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the papers were referred to Bukit Aman before being handed over to the AGC last week.

“We are still awaiting further instructions from the AGC regarding the investigation papers,” he told reporters after attending a case exhibit disposal ceremony at the Serdang district police headquarters on Tuesday (Dec 30).

He assured that the probe into the case is being conducted transparently.

It was previously reported that the police were investigating allegations that a local man was assaulted by an individual claiming to be a policeman at a house in Kampung Sungai Ingat, Banting, in November.

Kuala Langat deputy OCPD Dept Supt Mohd Sufian Amin said the mother of the victim filed a report on the incident on Dec 18.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm.
