KOTA BARU: The Sessions Court here has acquitted and discharged former Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) general manager Wan Mohd Zamri W Ismail on a charge of accepting a RM10,000 bribe in 2015.

Judge Dazuki Ali made the decision on Tuesday (Dec 30) after finding that the prosecution had failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

"Overall, I am satisfied that the RM10,000 was used to assist victims of major floods in December 2014.

"The defence successfully rebutted the presumption on the balance of probabilities under Section 50(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009,” he said.

Wan Mohd Zamri was charged with accepting the bribe from one Ng Tze Wei, through a United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd cheque credited into his Maybank Islamic account, at Maybank in Jalan Mahmood here on Jan 22, 2015.

The money was allegedly an inducement to help Zog Technology be appointed as a subcontractor to design, build, prepare and conduct a test run, as well as other related works for the Merbau Chondong Water Supply Scheme Phase II, Package 1 in Machang. – Bernama
