Pillion rider killed in crash near Kulai


KULAI: A 28-year-old woman was killed in an accident involving two motorcycles and a car at KM28 of the Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam road here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the crash occurred at 9.15am on Friday (Dec 26).

"The accident is believed to have happened when a married couple travelling from Kulai to Senai lost control of their motorcycle.

"The motorcycle then collided with another motorcycle and a car coming from the opposite direction," he said.

ACP Tan said the woman who was riding pillion on the first motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 23-year-old husband and the other motorcyclist, 41, were rushed to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim where they were reported to be in stable condition.

ACP Tan said the couple was working at the time, delivering items for an e-commerce company, when the accident occurred.

"Further investigations are ongoing," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
