REMBAU: The nephew of 53-year-old Suri Narudin, who was found murdered and stuffed in a bag at a house in Rembau on December 18, says he suspected the body was his aunt’s after seeing the suitcase.
The man, who only wanted to be known as Mizan, 41, told Sinar Harian that the luggage was often used by his aunt, fondly known as Mak Su, whenever she went on vacation.
"When I saw the size of the suitcase, I knew (that it was my aunt in there). That is the suitcase Mak Su always took on her trips.
“I never imagined her life would end this way. She was a kind, generous, and cheerful person," he said when met at the Rembau Hospital Forensic Department on Wednesday (Dec 24).
Mizan added that worried over his aunt’s fate ever since Suri was reported missing.
"Alhamdulillah, with everyone's prayers, the truth has finally come out, and it has been confirmed that the body in the suitcase is my aunt.
"I pray that the perpetrator receives a fitting punishment for this cruel act," he said.
Mizan arrived at the hospital around 3pm with other family members and close friends of the deceased, including 90s singer Mac Ruhayu Mohd Nor, to make funeral arrangements.
It is understood that Suri will be buried in Rembau.
According to Mizan, he last met his aunt in October, and she had sent a message asking about his father's health after learning he was unwell.
"Mak Su also expressed her desire to travel abroad. She really loved travelling," he added.
He also expressed appreciation for the swift investigation into the case.
Suri's family members were emotional when they arrived at the Rembau Hospital Forensic Unit for the identification and management of the body.
On Wednesday, Selangor police chief Dept Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said a set of fingerprints sent for examination by the Bukit Aman federal police matched those of Suri in the National Registration Department's database.
A DNA analysis report from the Chemistry Department also confirmed a close match to the deceased’s biological siblings.
