Woman-in-bag murder: Court sets May 6 for next mention

REMBAU: The Magistrate's Court here has fixed May 6 for the next mention of a case involving a 53-year-old woman whose highly decomposed remains were found stuffed in a bag and buried behind an unoccupied house here.

Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali made the decision after deputy public prosecutor Fidha Misjedi told the court that the postmortem and toxicology reports had not been completed.

Earlier, the accused in the case Zainizan Zainal, 52, was brought to court in a police van around 8.10am.

On Dec 26, he was charged with the murder of Suri Narudin.

The offence was committed behind a house at Jalan Pedas Linggi, Rembau, between Dec 7 and 18.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death sentence or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years.

The victim had been reported missing in Ampang, Selangor since Dec 8.

On Dec 19, the police said doctors were unable to establish the cause of the victim's death as her remains were too decomposed.

Police later said a set of fingerprints sent for examination by the Bukit Aman federal police matched those of the deceased in the National Registration Department database.
