National Unity Ministry awaiting full report on Kangkar Pulai temple demolition


JOHOR BARU: The National Unity Ministry has yet to receive any official report on the demolition of the Malai Aalum Murugan Temple in Kangkar Pulai.

Its deputy minister R. Yuneswaran said the matter falls under the Kulai Municipal Council's (MPKU) jurisdiction.

"I have not received any official information yet. This issue is related to the local council and we will allow them to take the necessary action in accordance with the law," he said.

Yuneswaran, who is also Segamat MP, said this after officiating the Johor Indian Youth Council annual general meeting held at Bandar Dato Onn here on Sunday (Dec 21).

He said he would contact Johor unity, heritage and culture committee chairman K. Raven Kumar for more details.

"I want to get a full report – what is the status of the land and why there was a change. We will contact the relevant parties to get the details and find a solution," he said.

Yuneswaran urged all parties to avoid pointing fingers, saying that the focus should be on resolving the matter amicably within the framework of the law.
