PETALING JAYA: The investigation over the case where a vehicle ran over a dog twice has been handed over to the Veterinary Department, say police
Port Dickson deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib confirmed that a report was lodged in Lukut.
"The case has been referred to the Veterinary Department.
"The dog was not intentionally killed and was instead an accident," he said when contacted on Sunday (Aug 9).
Earlier on Sunday, Lawyers for Animal Rights called for an urgent investigation into the incident.
The group said the incident in Port Dickson involved a white pick-up truck that hit the puppy twice, killing the animal.
The group's representative Rajesh Nagarajan said the incident should not be dismissed as negligence or unfortunate accident.
"What makes this case so troubling is not simply that a defenceless animal was struck by a vehicle but that the vehicle returned and struck the same animal a second time," he said in a statement.
