Rawang temple idols moved without incident before demolition, says Selangor top cop

PETALING JAYA: Several statues from a temple in Rawang have been moved without incident before the structure's scheduled demolition, police said.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said in a statement that the transfer was completed on Wednesday (Feb 25).

"A total of 10 devotees and temple management representatives carried out the relocation of all four idols.

"The landowner also began site clearing works early in the morning after the relocation process was completed.

"No untoward incidents occurred, and the police monitored the situation," he said.

Comm Shazeli reminded all parties involved to continue respecting existing legal channels and not to take matters into their own hands in ways that could disrupt racial and religious harmony.

"Any disputes must be resolved in accordance with procedures set by the local authorities and the lawful landowner," he added.
