Dispute over money motive of murder, say Negri cops

PETALING JAYA: Police believe a dispute over money led to the murder of the woman, whose body was found stuffed in a bag and buried at a vacant house near Kampung Batu 4, Pedas in Negri Sembilan last Thursday (Dec 18).

According to Sinar Harian, Negri Sembilan deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim and the main suspect were involved in an argument prior to the incident.

“The conflict is believed to have stemmed from the victim allegedly asking the suspect for money,” he said.

SAC Idzam added that the main suspect, who was arrested at Genting Sempah was remanded with police still in the process of recording his statement.

“As the suspect has only just been remanded, the interrogation process is ongoing to determine the actual motive behind the incident.

“However, early investigations suggest there was a dispute between the victim and the suspect, believed to be related to a request for money,” he said.

He added police were continuing investigations from various angles to obtain a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the case, including the possibility of other motives.

Earlier on Friday (Dec 19), SAC Idzam said police had arrested another man to assist in investigations.

The 51-year-old man, who is also the main suspect, was detained around Genting Sempah, Pahang,on Friday afternoon.

With this arrest, a total of two men have now been held to assist in the investigation.

The first suspect was detained in Melaka and has been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On Thursday (Dec 18), state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the deceased was believed to be the same woman reported missing in Ampang, Selangor, on Monday (Dec 15).

The woman, identified as Suri Narudin, was reportedly unreachable since Dec 8.
