SERDANG: The commemoration of Maulidur Rasul should be reflected through practising Prophet Muhammad’s way of life as a source of mercy and guidance for all humanity, says the Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the celebration should serve as a platform to inspire Muslims with renewed spirit, awareness and enlightenment.
“In the context of understanding Islam, the challenge lies in its practice and how we perceive it. What matters most is upholding the commands of Allah,” he said.
This celebration, he said, was meant to inspire a renewed spirit, not to perpetuate old complacency.
“The torch of Islam remains dynamic and alive. Every episode in the life of Prophet Muhammad offers a lesson for us,” he said in his speech at the national-level Maulidur Rasul celebration.
Anwar said the challenge for Muslims today is to internalise Islamic values and become a role model not only for fellow Muslims, but also for all Malaysians and the global community.
He said the concept of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all creation) must be translated into building a society rooted in values, principles and ideals, while driven by the pursuit of excellence.
The Prime Minister said a society built on the principles taught by Prophet Muhammad must uphold clear values – embrace goodness, respect others, uphold justice and reject wrongdoings, social ills, arrogance, narrow-minded racism, oppression, corruption and abuse of power.
“How can we build Muslim communities in Malaysia into a distinguished, unique and exceptional society that moves towards excellence?
“This is the test and challenge as we commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The occasion must inspire deeper reflection and understanding,” he said.
The Prime Minister also congratulated recipients of the national-level Maulidur Rasul Awards, including Westar Group founder and managing director Tan Sri Dr Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, who was named the Tokoh Perdana Maulidur Rasul.
Former deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay received the award in the Tokoh Wira Negara category in recognition of his contributions to national security, particularly in combating terrorism, during his service.
Other recipients of the Maulidur Rasul Award were religious teacher Abdul Hamid Chin, International Islamic University deputy rector Prof Dr Ruzita Mohd Amin and former Malaysian Palm Oil Board director-general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir.
Also honoured with the Maulidur Rasul Award were Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia president Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin, Laman Yasim and social media influencer Muhammad Mikhael Sathyah.
