Father and son hurt in Ampang house fire

PETALING JAYA: A father and son suffered burns after a fire broke out at a two-storey terrace house in Taman Muda, Ampang on Saturday (Oct 10).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said both victims, aged in their 30s and 70s, managed to escape before firefighters arrived.

He said the department received an emergency call at 8.33am and a team from the Pandan Indah Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene three minutes later.

“The fire involved the ground floor of the house, measuring 18ft by 30ft, with about 60% of the property damaged.

“The blaze also damaged a car, with about 70% of the vehicle affected,” he said in a statement Saturday.

Both victims were taken to hospital by Health Ministry personnel and the department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team.

The fire was brought under control at 8.45am, and extinguishing operations were completed.

Eight firefighters were deployed to the scene.
