Praise for door-yanking policeman in Telipok


KOTA KINABALU: A video of a policeman yanking a car door open during an arrest in Telipok has been making the rounds online, drawing plenty of reactions and praise from netizens.

The clip shows a policeman yanking the driver’s door open as officers closed in on the suspects, with the door ending up visibly damaged during the arrest.

The scene quickly went viral, drawing plenty of comments praising the police.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda has since confirmed that the video shows a real incident linked to a theft case that took place on Dec 12

“The suspects, aged 22 and 28, are believed to have stolen a bag belonging to a 56-year-old woman, resulting in losses estimated at RM1,500, including personal documents and identification items,” he said in a statement.

ACP Kasim said further checks found that the suspects were using a rental car fitted with a GPS tracking system.

Preliminary urine tests found both suspects positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, while the suspects are also being held to assist in investigations into other cases.
