Kuching’s Meow Run for Autism to flag off April 12, 2026

KUCHING: Early preparations are underway for the Kuching Autistic Association's (KAA) fundraising Meow Run for Autism next year.

The yearly charity run aims to raise awareness and funds to support programmes and services for individuals with autism and their families.

Its next edition will be flagged off at the Kuching South City Council grounds on April 12.

"We are delighted to bring the Kuching community together again for a cause that truly matters," organising chairman Duane Reggie said.

"Every step taken during this run helps us create a more inclusive environment and provide meaningful support to individuals on the autism spectrum."

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit KAA, helping to expand therapy services, educational resources and community outreach initiatives at its centre.

The association needs RM1.5mil every year to operate its centre, over RM800,000 of which is raised through public support.

The Meow Run is open to everyone, offering 3km and 5km categories as well as family-friendly activities.

Duane said individuals with special needs are also invited to join next year's run to raise public awareness and acceptance.

"We have decided to make this run an inclusive one, where all individuals with special needs can make themselves known in a friendly atmosphere," he said.

Special needs participants are encouraged to register through their respective associations.

Registration for the event is now open. For details, go to www.kaa.org.my or email kaakch@gmail.com.
