Eight arrested in Selangor parang attack


PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested eight suspects in connection with a parang attack that left a local man seriously injured at Amara Residensi, Batu Caves.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said police received a report from Selayang Hospital at about 10.35am on Sunday (Dec 14) regarding the incident.

ACP Noor Ariffin said the local man, in his 20s, was attacked by an unknown individual before being slashed with a parang, resulting in serious injuries.

“Acting on information received, police carried out arrests involving four suspects on Dec 14. All four were remanded for seven days until Dec 21,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 17).

Subsequently, on Dec 16 and Dec 17, four more local suspects were arrested and remanded for six days until Dec 22.

“All the suspects are aged between 21 and 33,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
