Father claims trial to raping stepdaughter

SEREMBAN: A 45-year-old father of two has claimed trial in the Sessions Court to two charges of raping his stepdaughter.

The civil servant pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge Surita Budin.

He is accused of committing the offences at about 2am on April 15, 2022 and 3am on Aug 1 the same year at a government quarters unit in Port Dickson.

The accused is charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi requested the court impose similar conditions as those set when the accused was charged with incest against the same victim.

This includes an order for him to stay away from the victim, report at the nearest police station monthly until the case is resolved, and surrender his passport to the court.

The prosecution also agreed that the accused be allowed to remain on the RM9,000 bail imposed for the incest charges.

In February, the accused was charged with two counts of committing incest against the same victim and pleaded not guilty.

Judge Surita fixed May 18 to 22 for trial for the rape charges.
