Man who threatened neighbour with gun remanded for another four days


SUNGAI PETANI: The man who was accused of pointing a gun at his neighbour in Bandar Laguna Merbok on Sunday (Dec 7) has been remanded for another four days until Thursday.

Magistrate Muhammad Syaiful Akmal Mohamad Razi granted the remand application at the Sungai Petani Court to assist in the investigation into the case on Sunday (Ced 14), reported Sinar Harian.

The man, in his 30s, was seen dressed in a lockup uniform and was taken out of court after the second remand application was completed on Sunday (Dec 14).

Previously, the man involved was remanded for seven days to assist with the investigation.

Earlier, the media reported that police arrested a man suspected of pointing a gun at his neighbour in an incident last week.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Asst Comm Hanyan Ramlan, said the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at a neighbour, who then lodged a police report to be filed.

According to him, the police received a call from a member of the public who claimed to have been threatened by a man using an object resembling a gun at 8.45 am.

"The results of the raid and further inspection at the suspect's house found an object resembling a pistol and a quantity of drugs," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Heavier Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960.
