Sabah to focus on roads, utilities in 2026, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will give special focus to addressing the three main issues - roads, water and electricity in Sabah next year, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“These issues are the State Government’s priority,” he said when met after the tabling of the 2026 State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly here on Friday (Dec 12).

The state Ministry of Public Works and Utilities, which is responsible for roads, water supply and electricity, has been allocated RM1.122bil for development next year.

Hajiji said the 2026 State Budget also continues the objective of improving the overall living standards of the people.

“We will continue programmes to enhance the well-being of the less fortunate as well as educational and human capital development next year,” he said.

Earlier, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun tabled a surplus Budget with an expenditure of RM6.402bil compared with an estimated revenue of RM6.430bil for 2026.
