Pahang engineer encounters intruder in living room

TEMERLOH: An engineer was taken aback when he found an unknown man in the living room of his home in Kampung Batu 4, Paya Pulai, on Saturday (Dec 6).

Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron stated that the victim became aware of the incident around 3.30pm upon arriving home and noticing an unknown four-wheel drive vehicle parked in front of his house, reported Sinar Harian.

"The victim saw an unfamiliar man in his living room," he explained. The engineer attempted to apprehend the suspect with the help of several neighbours, but the suspect managed to escape by driving away in the vehicle.

Two days later, the police received tips from the public about the suspect's location. In response, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Temerloh District Police Headquarters quickly arrived at the scene.

"We successfully arrested the man along with the white Nissan Navara, which had been reported missing on November 29 from the Pekan Awah area in Maran," ACP Mohd Nasyim said. The 36-year-old suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.

He noted that the suspect has no prior criminal record. The suspect was in custody and was scheduled to appear in Temerloh Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (Dec 9) for a remand application.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 14 years, a fine, or both if convicted.
