Thirty motorcycles seized during anti-street racing crackdown in Ipoh


IPOH: Authorities inspected 335 individuals during a multi-agency anti-street racing operation on Jalan Pasir Putih here.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the 12-hour operation, held from midnight to noon on Dec 7, involved the Perak traffic investigation and enforcement department with support from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Environment Department and the National Anti-Drugs Agency.

He said officers stopped 115 motorcycles and 82 cars during the operation and inspected individuals aged from 15 to 42.

"He said 30 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while a local man was arrested for reckless and dangerous riding under Section 42(1) of the same Act.

"Authorities also issued 158 traffic police summonses, 82 JPJ and 11 Environment Department compound notices for various offences," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 7).

Comm Noor Hisam said the anti-drug agency also detained 11 locals who tested positive for drugs, the youngest a 16-year-old boy.
