Lost hikers on Bukit Cherok Tokun found safe

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Four 25-year-old women who went missing during a hike on Bukit Cherok Tokun here yesterday were found safe on Saturday (Dec 7) night.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said a search team from the Bukit Mertajam station was deployed after the department received a distress call at 5.47pm.

"One of the women managed to send their location via WhatsApp. Two of them were found at 8 pm, while the other two at 11.03 pm after the search area was widened,” he said in a statement today.

He said the operation, which also involved the police and members of the public, concluded at 11.40pm. - Bernama
