PETALING JAYA: An MP from Kedah has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with a cattle farming joint venture owned by the state government.
According to sources, the arrest followed investigations that began in February and involved an alleged sum of about RM400,000 to facilitate the approval of land use rights for a feedlot project.
An investigation paper was opened on Feb 10 after a report was lodged.
Some 15 individuals are believed to have had their statements recorded on the matter.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest and said the MP’s statement was recorded under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act before he was released on bail.
