ALOR SETAR: Two teachers in Kedah have been removed from their respective schools after allegations of sexual misconduct appeared on social media, says the state Education Department.
According to a Sinar Harian report, the department said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 4) that the two separate cases were under investigation.
"The department takes a serious view of the allegations of sexual misconduct involving two teachers in the state that have gone viral on social media.
"Action has been taken to remove the teachers involved from institutions under the Education Ministry until investigations are completed," the statement read.
"The safety and well-being of students, teachers and the entire school community remain the department's top priority," it added.
The Bahasa Malaysia daily reported on Wednesday (Dec 3) that a former Mathematics teacher and education influencer, Mohd Fadli Salleh, shared screenshots on social media of a sexually explicit conversation between a male teacher and a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
According to the report, the exchange allegedly began with a tone of concern before escalating into sexually charged jokes, including an invitation to meet privately and a request for the student to address the teacher as "Abang".
Fadli also highlighted another case in the same district involving a male teacher accused of frequently making lewd remarks in class, the report added.
